Warner Service knows that you work hard to make your Christmas get-together perfect. Between shopping, cooking, and decorating, the last thing you want to hear are complaints from your family or friends. Don't worry though, because Warner Service knows that the one thing that will make everyone happy is a warm and cozy atmosphere. That's why we're bringing you these great winter heating tips for entertaining during the holidays!

Prepare Your Heating System

Even if your furnace might be heating your home without issue right now, it is always best to plan ahead and prevent any future breakdowns. The easiest way to be sure that your heater will be ready for your holiday party is with a routine maintenance visit. A technician will examine your heating system, perform some maintenance tasks as necessary (oiling parts, changing filters, etc...) and also make sure that your system does not need any repairs. To have a qualified and certified technician ensure you are ready for the holidays and cold winter afterwards, contact Warner Service! Be sure to have this done sooner than later, so that if any repairs do need to be made, they can be done before your calibration.

Use a Space Heater to Heat One Room at Low Cost

If your holiday party is going to be mainly in one room, adding a space heater may be an energy-efficient way to add a little bit of heat to that space. If you think the look of a space heater will not add to the atmosphere of your decorations, consider an electric fireplace for a combination of functionality and pleasing asthetics.

Install a Programmable Thermostat

If you haven't invested in a fully programmable thermostat, now might be the time, as they can make your life a lot easier. Not only are they energy-friendly, but after installing the system, there's very little hassle involved later on. They'll just adjust themselves depending on the time of day, so when it's warmer out, you're not wasting heat (and when you're at work, you can leave your house a bit cooler).

Make Your Fireplace More Efficient

An evening fire not only does a good job of keeping you and your guests warm, but it provides a very pleasant atmosphere on those cold winter nights. Unfortunately, fireplaces and chimneys can be  inefficient, pulling tons of heat up through the chimney (which is even worse when you don't have a fire going). If you are not going to be using a fireplace during your party, consider a chimney balloon. This device will prevent any unwanted drafts from disturbing you and your guests.

Take Advantage of Warm Foods and Drinks

If you want to be sure that your guests are warm, then it might be the time to skip cold appetizers and drinks in favor of warm ones. A plate of simple crock-pot meatballs or dip and some coffee or tea will make sure that your guests are warm both inside and out.

Weather Strip, Seal, and Curtain Your Windows

Even if making warm air inside isn't an issue, keeping it from escaping can be a hassle. Applying weatherstripping to windows and door frames can be a huge help in treating and preventing drafts in your home. In addition, sealing your windows also has the benefit of allowing the sun's radiant heat energy to enter your home and give you some free heating.

Insulate Outlets and Switches

Another common source of drafts are poorly insulated outlets and switches. These are simple to fix. Simply remove the cover and use just a little bit of insulating caulk to add a barrier between the warm and cold air.

Make Sure Your Guests Dress Warmly

If you really want to make sure your guests are warm, then make your holiday get together an "ugly sweater" party! Then, all of your guests will be sure to dress appropriately and even have some extra fun in the process.
